The word Mongozo means ‘cheers’ in the language of the Chokwe people of Africa, the language of Henrique Kabia, one of the founders of Mongozo beer.
Mongozo beers are developed using ingredients from exotic cultures to create surprising, unique flavours. Some of the beers are based on traditional recipes-like Kabia’s family recipe for palm beer, which was handed down from his great-grandmother.
The recipe was Kabia’s only possession in 1993 when he arrived in the Netherlands as a refugee. That recipe formed the basis for Mongozo beers.
There are five scintillating and exotic Mongozo flavours: Mango, Banana, Coconut, Quinoa and Palmnut. In addition, Mongozo also produces a unique Fairtrade, organic and gluten-free premium pilsener.
